NEWNOWNEXT, supported by Arup, was launched recently to present a series of 12 architectural talks over the next three years, all free to the public, to shine a spotlight on great architecture from around the world.
The NEWNOWNEXT series kicks off on Wednesday May 22 with Jeanne Gang, founder of Studio Gang Architects in Chicago, USA, at the Innovation Academy (former AIB Bank) on 3 Foster Place, Dublin 2. The title of her talk is ‘Reclaiming the Edge’. Recipient of a MacArthur Fellowship in 2011, Jeanne Gang is best known for the 82-story Aqua Tower, the tallest building in the world designed by a female-owned firm. Gang is a pioneer in ecological urbanism, a field of design that considers rising populations and dwindling resources.
