Baking queen, Mary Berry, will top the bill at this year’s Malvern Autumn Show.
Mary, who is best known as one of the judges in The Great British Bake Off on BBC2, will be sharing her top tips for family cooking at the show at the Three Counties Showground on September 28 and 29. She will be in the Good Life Pavilion, alongside BBC Gardeners’ World presenter Joe Swift.
The Good Life Pavilion is also where you’ll find five edible gardens this year, plus there’s a brand new Plant Fair, for those with a real passion for unusual species grown by small specialist nurseries.
There will be thousands of blooms on sale from the country’s finest nurseries, and it’s the last chance of the season to view the spectacular RHS Flower Show, covering more than 5,000 square metres.
The Harvest Pavilion, with its displays of vegetables and cut flowers, and expert advice from national plant societies, is always a huge draw, and even more exciting this year is the news that the UK National Giant Vegetables Championship is heading north from its Somerset home, to take up residence at Malvern.
In the Cookery Theatre, the Wot’s Cooking Roadshow chefs will be showing visitors how to rustle up a selection of tasty dishes using ingredients from the average home garden or allotment. There’s also an artisan market. The Orchard Pavilion, which takes cider and perry as its theme, is the venue for tutored tasting workshops, talks by experts and orchard exhibits.
The Vintage area features a World War II village hall, complete with Land Girls, vintage cars, caravans and machinery, a tea room, and free dancing lessons for visitors wanting to step back in time to the 1940s.
There’s more – including an aerobatic plane display, a Children’s Discovery Zone with pumpkin carving workshops and ‘Mushrooms for the Masses’, the National Trug Championships, animals big and small, crafts, dog agility, country pursuits, and 500 quality stalls.
