This year, we’re introducing four distinctive ‘zones’ to the show, each with its own special atmosphere and flavour. One of these zones, Feast, is dedicated to all things ‘grow your own’.

What’s in store?

The new Great British Allotments area features allotment gardens from a range of exhibitors, both community and commercial. With each plot focusing on different skills and expertise, you are sure to pick up great ‘grow your own’ tips, whether you have a window box or a country estate!

For a different twist on the traditional allotment, Manchester Metropolitan University will be exhibiting an ‘Artist allotment’ made completely from arts and crafts!

The RHS Summer Fruit & Vegetable Competition Pavilion is the place to go to see jewel-like prize winning produce. The competition is open to all so if you like what you see and fancy giving it a go in the future, email georginabarter@rhs.org.uk for more details.

Other Pavilion highlights:

  • Jacqui Brocklehurst’s ‘Eat My Garden’ – a tea party of herbs and edible plants. Download Jacqui’s courgette relish recipe
  • The British Tomato Association have been inspired by the 1950s with their American diner made completely from tomatoes!
  • The Northern Fruit group’s special exhibit focusing on soft fruit

New for 2013, the Feast Cookery Theatre will be hosting ‘plot to plate’ cookery demonstrations and talks about edible gardening. The theatre will be hosted by Brian Mellor, formerly Head Chef at the BBC. Brian runs the Hartshill Cookery School in Cheshire and will be on hand throughout the week to scintillate your taste buds with his wonderful recipes.

Feast would not be complete without the Great Taste Market. Sample and purchase award-winning foods from around 32 regional artisan food and drink producers, and hear first-hand how they are made.
