Grains of Truth from Loughry Students

NI Food played host to “The Cereal Story” at Balmoral Show this year. This interactive activity, supported by the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (HGCA), has been designed to engage children with the Agri-Food Industry.

Taking the children through the activity, and explaining the huge part that cereals play in our food industry, was a team of “expert” students from CAFRE’s Loughry Campus. These Food Technology and Food Nutrition and Health students study the production and processing of cereals and understand how cereals form part of a healthy diet, so they were the ideal hosts to answer questions and inform their eager young participants all about the “grainy goodness” of cereals such as barley, wheat and oats.

If you think one of Loughry’s courses might be the perfect beginning to your story come along to our next open evening on Thursday 22 August for more details.
