Coillte, in partnership with parenting website Mykidstime.ie, have launched their “Get Up Get Out” children’s summer activity campaign. The campaign aimed at parents and children brings together a series of free outdoor activity ideas that will entertain children during the summer months.
Activities and Ideas include:
- 20 Fun Things for Kids to Do Outdoors, from Flying a Kite to Starting a Rock collection
- Nature Scavenger Hunt for Kids
- Big Bug Hunt for Kids
- Sound Scavenger Hunt for Kids
Jill Holltz, My Kids Time spokesperson said “ Often the Summer holidays can appear daunting, all that time to fill and it can be hard to think of something new and fun to do .This is why we were so happy to partner with Coillte – it provides a brilliant opportunity to get children outside, running around, using their imaginations and having fun”
Bill Murphy of Coillte said “Each year Coillte welcomes over eighteen million visitors to its forests. We provide some of Ireland’s best outdoor recreation opportunities from walking and hiking to mountain biking , picnics , fishing and nature watching. Research shows that children who play regularly in woodlands and “wild’ areas are better at problem solving and attain better grades in the later school years. We do hope that this campaign provides some inspiration for parents and children and encourages them to get out and have fun in the great outdoors’
Mykidstime.ie is a free resource for families, with a full range of listings for activities, classes and clubs for children, as well as information on services and events for families in Ireland. Parents can also sign up for a free monthly newsletter with information and suggestions for things to do, as well as enter regular competitions.
