“I was delighted to be joined by Martin, Niamh and Padraig Tully in Government Buildings today where they presented me with their homegrown winner of the best plant for 2013, Hebe ‘Rhubarb and Custard’. Developed over a five year period at Tully Nurseries, Ballyboughal, Co Dublin, this distinctive evergreen plant would be ideal for all gardens and I wish them all the best with it both here and in the UK. “
It’s Spring and time to get back into the garden with new ideas and new colour. New to the market and winner of the best new plant for 2013 is Hebe ‘Rhubarb & Custard’. Since winning the Bord Bia and HTA awards last year at the Irish & UK National Shows, Tully Nurseries has had huge demand for this plant from home and abroad. This new Hebe has been developed and cultivated in Tully Nurseries in north county Dublin. It has taken 5 years to produce and is now grown world wide under license. Other varieties in this range include ‘Raspberry Ripple’ and ‘Strawberries and Cream’.
Hebe ‘Rhubarb & Custard’ is unique for its distinctive spiky foliage, nice rounded habit and has the added benefit of cream, pink and green foliage. It is set to be a popular plant for its year round colour and lilac flowers in June and July. It is an evergreen plant which is easy to grow and is ideal in all gardens. It can be planted in the garden or in patio containers.
Developed by Tully Nurseries this exciting new plant is available under their Bella Bloom brand in garden centres and Winning Plants brand in DIYs throughout Ireland & the UK. This plant is part of Bord Bia’s Garden Time promotion range allowing you to enter its monthly competition to win lots of prizes. This Irish grown plant will be a winner in your garden.
