Duration: 1 year full-time

Aim:
This course will provide students with a thorough practical knowledge of Horticulture
specialising in the Landscape and Design Industry.

Entry Requirements:
Leaving Cert/Leaving Cert Applied or its equivalent. For mature students, experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications. People suffering from a physical disability such as back/knee injury would not be considered suitable for this course. Suitability for this course will be assessed at interview

Work Placement:
Practical experience is an integral part of the course. The College has established the following practices to enhance learner’s exposure to horticulture:
Regular horticultural practice and design advice at the National Garden Exhibition Centre Kilquade
Building of a real garden for a charitable organisation
Weekly garden maintenance in different locations throughout the year
Possible participation in Bloom at the Phoenix Park

Career Opportunities:
A wide variety of employment opportunities exist in Domestic Landscaping, Private Gardens, Public Parks and Nurseries

Progression:
Graduates who achieve the required standard may progress to further studies in the National Botanic Gardens, Dublin Institute of Technology Blanchardstown or to a degree programme in Horticulture, Landscape Architecture or Botany.
