Hebe ‘Matty Brown’
- New variety for 2013
- Evergreen
- Flowers every year
This is a new variety for 2013. Bred by Tully Nurseries, one of the premier nurseries in Ireland, be one of the first in the country to get your hands on this fantastic little shrub. A gorgeous compact variety it has two contrasting leaf colours, the young juvenile leaves with their maroon colouring, contrasting against the deep green of the older leaves. Lavender coloured flowers cover the plant every summer. It makes an ideal plant for rockeries, flower beds or even as a pot plant. Very easy to grow, requiring little looking after.
Tully Nurseries name their new varieties after desserts or horses. Matty Brown is named after the horse that won the derby in Hickstead in 1970 and 1971. The horse was ridden by Harvey Smith, the same name as Martin Tully’s grandson.
