15-23 June 2013 | 8.30 – 17.30 each day | Cloughjordan Ecovillage, Co Tipperary | €600 (includes refreshments and lunch) | Pay Now. This intensive course explores the core aspects of cob construction and gives you the knowledge and experience needed to tackle any cob building project.
The week is practical, physical and very hands-on. There are also classroom-type sessions and design exercises. We visit cob buildings being lived in and under construction. It promises to be fun, interesting and muddy.
Topics covered include: foundations, cob walls, roofs, windows and doors, floors, electrics and plumbing, drainage; plastering, paint, artistic and sculptural aspects, building design and much more….
This course is facilitated by Eileen Flanagan. She is a structural engineer and an artist with many years building and teaching experience. Her husband and she have just completed their own cob home in the ecovillage at Cloughjordan. She has a deep understanding of structures, a passion for natural building and a practical approach to getting things done. Her classes are engaging, exploratory and entertaining.
The course runs from 8.30 each morning until 17.30 in the evening. There will be a break in the morning and afternoon as well as a long lunch break and optional evening activities. The course fees include refreshments during the breaks and a hearty lunch each day. Please advise about any dietary restrictions in advance.
The course costs €600. This does not include accommodation, breakfast or evening meal.
