Bloom returns for a 13th year today and runs from 9am-6pm over the five days of the Bank Holiday Weekend. Bord Bia Chief Executive, Tara McCarthy, introduces this year’s show.
It’s back! Ireland’s favourite gardening and food event opened this morning and all of us at Bord Bia are looking forward to welcoming you to the Phoenix Park in Dublin over the next five days. With a wonderful array of gardening, food, fashion and craft features plus a host of entertainment for all ages, the show is a great day out for the whole family.
Once again, Ireland’s most talented garden designers have worked tirelessly to create 22 stunning Show Gardens for this year’s event. These magnificent spaces are the heart and soul of Bloom and a must-see for all. They are joined by a Sculpture Garden and 14 Postcard Gardens, providing plenty of inspiration for gardening enthusiasts and nature lovers.
Each year, Bord Bia works with over 100 Irish food and drink producers to bring the tastiest food our island offers to The Food Village at Bloom. Visitors can sample and purchase food and drink produced from all corners of our abundant island, and taste new products or relax in the Bloom Inn. The hugely popular Bord Bia Quality Kitchen will again feature leading Irish chefs and the GIY Food Matters Stage will host thought-provoking debates on food.
For families with children, the Food Dudes Kids Zone offers all-day activities to inspire, educate and entertain our young Bloomers. For the young and old, there’s the Irish Craft Village, the YouBloom music stage, Barbecue Bliss area, Garden expert stage, over 200 retailers and much more. Bloom truly offers a remarkable assortment of tastes, sights, sounds and scents.Created by Bord Bia as a unique gardening festival, Bloom is now the ultimate family day out. I hope to see you in the Phoenix Park this ‘Bloom’ Bank Holiday Weekend.
