The QQI level 5 course in Organic Horticulture will be run on a part-time basis, two days weekly, over two years.
The course is delivered in partnership with the Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim Education and Training Board.(MSLETB). As a further education course it is taught on-site and starts in early Spring. The Organic Centre is unique in that it offers a Biodiversity Module within its nine modules. A large component of the course teaches practical skills including in fruit and vegetable production. Learn in the educational hub of the pioneering Organic Centre, with shop, gardens, events and weekend courses throughout the calendar year. Applications open now. Deadline Monday 10th February.

Our annual Potato Day is back in full swing on Sunday March 2nd from 12-4pm. With a bustling market of sustainable and local craft and food on the day and a bumper array of potato seeds for sale in the shop. We are honoured once again to be joined by representatives of the Loy Association of Ireland. We will have all things potato on the menu of the Grass Roof Café. Enjoy craft demonstrations and workshops for the children with more entertainment to be announced. Free entry on the day.

First off: Seasonal Cooking and Foraging with Thien Laitenberger; Saturday, March 1st 10-4pm
Join young food sensation chef Thien Laitenberger in a hands-on cookery course. A great fit for those younger family members who wish to learn about growing and foraging for their own food. And what an incredible role model Thien is! Also a perfect opportunity for a parent and teenager activity day together.
Another new course to this years calendar is a hand-spinning workshop with Eimear O’Neill, From Fleece to Fabric charts the journey as you transform raw wool into yarn. At the end of the day you will take home your own spindle and some fibre so you can keep spinning after the workshop. Saturday 8th March 2025.
Finally, we welcome back a giant in the Irish growing sector, Jim Cronin. Everyone wants their own, slug free garden and Jim will introduce you to his own East Clare No Dig Gardening also on Sunday 9th of March 2025

Green Shoots Playgroup is back every Friday morning 10am-12pm. The group offers outdoor, nature-based and messy play. Places are limited. The Gardens are open and entry is free to all, Our onsite shop is currently open 7 days a week,10am – 4pm off season. We are also running tours of the centre and can organise outdoor events for your group/family. So get in touch! Our cafe is open weekends for teas and coffees.
