RHS Garden Wisley has been named Britain’s Favourite Garden in the BBC Countryfile Magazine 2013 Awards, a celebration of the British countryside. Wisley was up against stiff competition from gardens and landscapes including the Olympic Park, The Beth Chatto Gardens and the Edible Bus Stop. The Old English Garden in Battersea Park took second place with Bodnant Garden, Gwynedd, coming third.

Wisley Curator Colin Crosbie said the award was a ‘brilliant’ result and thanked all who work hard to make Wisley a wonderful destination for visitors.

‘We have a very talented team at RHS Garden Wisley and they put huge amounts of work into our beautiful world-class gardens, diverse programme of events, plot-to-plate catering and fantastic plant centre and shop,’ Colin said.

‘It’s this hard work that makes a day out at Wisley such a memorable experience for our visitors – we’re absolutely thrilled to have been voted Best Garden as a result.’
