In a recent survey of over 4000 Which? Connect consumer panel members they outlined the many reasons for the 51% high rate who said they had problems when ordering plants online or by mail order including the following:
Issues with the quality of the plants received: dead or dying plants or bulbs: plants that were smaller than expected, battered or dried out, quickly succumbed to disease or were diseased on arrival.
- Plants arrived late
- Poorly packaged
- No dispatch information/not kept up to date with the order
- Misleading photo online
- Wasn’t told early enough that plant was out of stock
- Some plants didn’t arrive
- Wrong variety
- Incorrectly labelled
- Not labelled
- Wrong species
- Emails/phone calls ignored
- Wrong size
- None of the plants arrived
Still want to sell plants online? The dissatisfaction rate of 51% makes for a lot of time spent rectifying the problems listed above. Decide in the beginning to always go for quality and excellent service or just don’t bother wasting the customers and your own time.
