Planning has been approved for a £1.2m landscape remediation in Co Waterford.
The project involves the creation of a high quality country park with an ecological focus for passive recreation for Waterford.
According to the website, unearthore.com, the main contractor, Grangemore Landscapes, has now been appointed for the works involved with at Kilbarry Landfill, Waterford City.
The work includes the construction of a new public park at the landfill that has an area of approximately 20 Ha and lies south of Waterford, located between the Tramore Road and Cork Roads and adjacent to the Kilbarry Bog which is a proposed natural Heritage Area.
The Project involves the creation of a high quality country park with an ecological focus for passive recreation for the surrounding areas.
Works include minor earthworks, construction of roads and paving, fencing, signage, trim trail equipment, service infrastructure works, meadow and grass seeding and woodland planting.
Work commenced on site 1st March for the scheme that will cost in the region of €1.2m.
