Top 10 Flowers To Grow in Your Garden For Beautiful Summer Arrangements

Lily: The lily is a simple flower to grow in the garden. Once planted and cared for it will reappear year after year. With a huge range of varieties and colours this attractive flower will create a focal point in any arrangement. It is also a long lasting flower which extends the lifespan of your arrangement.

Rose: A beautiful scented attraction for any floral display. Also available in a large selection of colours and varieties. Very popular for our loved ones at Valentines day. Make sure to cut well back after the growing season,  to keep those blooms large and healthy.

Carnation: A delicate scent, this beautiful spray of flowers is a neat addition to those delicate baskets of flowers. This is quite a popular one with any funeral tributes you may need due to its long lasting capabilities. Also available in a variety of colours.

Sunflowers: We are reminded it is summer when the noble sunflower arrives. It’ s hard not to smile when they appear. These beautiful flowers look wonderful on their own but also work well with other flowers. Try adding a little solidago to complement them.

Solidago: This pretty yellow filler shows off your most beautiful blooms. It will create a nice delicate country look. Can be used in all floral arrangements which makes it very versatile.

Gypsophila: Although this can sometimes be a tricky one to grow, the benefits make it a beautiful addition. I love to use this one in flower girl baskets or for communion flowers. A lovely soft delicate flower, available in white or pink. It can also be dried and sprayed with colour spray or the addition of glitter to be used at Christmas. What a clever little flower.

Peony Rose: This is a particular favourite of mine and my garden in Stamullen would not be without it. A beautiful scented delicate flower. Available in white to pink shades. A wonderful flower for wedding work. But just as beautiful in a glass vase on the kitchen table. This flower reminds me of summer and my sisters wedding in Drogheda.

Stock: When I think of highly scented flowers, stock is one that climbs high on my list. It is not a long lasting flower but one I love to use in an arrangement in the hall. With its beautiful scent it welcomes any guest that may visit. Available in white, pale to dark pink, lilac shades.

Delphinium: A toweringcollection of blooms. This is a jaw stopping flower. It looks amazing in any flower bed in Balbriggan. It is wonderful for creating height in an arrangement. It has a beautiful cottage garden look. It is available in shades of white, pink, lilac, blue. Looks wonderful against a mirror in a hall.

Lily of The Valley: Well if it is good enough for the royal family? This is a favourite of theirs for their bridal bouquets. I love it for its delicate bell like flowers. It has a short stem length with pretty white flowers. It is a very easy plant to grow here. It seems to like our climate and soil. It will easily spread around the garden. It is a flower I like to use in small low arrangements and it has the most beautiful scent. A nice plant to use if you want to create a fairy garden. It seems like a nice flower to finish on, as with all fairies I am sure with a garden full of these wonderful flowers, you too like the fairies will want to dance in the sun. If you are not too busy making your wonderful arrangements.
