Event Schedule
8 – 17 August 2014 – Permaculture Design Certificate Course with Graham Bell
8 -17 August – Workshops*:
- Soil Lab – Nutritional Resilience
- Permafacture – Open source digital fabrication workshop
- The Gift Economy – presentation by Mark Boyle

21 – 23 August – Organisational Resilience:
Future-oriented ways of organising inspired by natural systems and Permaculture design
A Course for Community Catalysts made up of two events that can be taken alone or together:
- Organisational Resilience One Day Master Class (50 places)
- Organisational Resilience Design Challenge (15 places)
A three day option, including the master class, for those wishing to design suitable systems for their organisations and communities.
In an environment that is constantly changing, our community-based initiatives and enterprises need to be adaptive, flexible and resilient. There is no one right way to organise, but new emerging whole system approaches can help us understand and design operating systems for our organisations that are truly collaborative.
These events are for anyone considering how we design organisational structures to work in groups in a way that empowers all members to participate in shaping and making the decisions that affect them, while at the same time nurturing closer relationships and resilience.
22 August – “Try before you buy” Green Building and Digital Manufacturing
There are a number of courses on offer from September onwards. If you are interested in learning a bit more about the courses, why not have a “try before you buy” on two of the courses? Spend the morning learning about green, natural and energy efficient building, or the afternoon trying your hand at digital manufacturing and learn how to DIY your own FabLab.
- Green Building / Natural Building – learn some green building principles, see and touch different materials and see wall build ups, try your hand on the insulation rig and with natural building materials.
- Digital Manufacturing – learn basic digital fabrication skills including laser cutting, vinyl cutting, milling, routing and 3D printing. Find out about low cost, open source and DIY options for fab lab machines.
23 – 24 August – Resilience Camp & Skill-Share Weekend
This is an innovative three-day convergence of makers, doers, people in transition, permaculture activists, and anyone interested in developing resilience skills or preparing for life in a rapidly changing world.
Immerse yourself in activities such as, growing food in a crisis, shelter making, DIY Fab Labs and exploring collaborative approaches to housing and food production. Engage through skill sharing, talks, discussions, hands on workshops and the incredible cross-pollination of ideas and opportunities that this event has to offer.
The camp is hosted by members of the community in Cloughjordan who are grappling with the challenge of adapting our systems, environment and lives to be more resilient and adaptive, join them and share in this learning journey.
