The RHS Chelsea Garden Product of the Year 2015 has been awarded to Agralan Ltd for their ingenious Potato Pot. This innovative potato planter allows you to check the development of the potatoes and pick them week after week without digging the plant up.
The competition was between 14 finalists chosen from a range of entrants who submitted their new products to be considered for the award. The winner is selected against the following criteria: innovation, functionality, visual appeal, quality, value for money and environmental sustainability. Four judges, Dougal Philip, Deborah Meaden, Peter Seabrook and Chris Harrop made their selection after presentations on each product from the exhibitors.
Peter Seabrook said: ‘I was really impressed with the Bosch Professional Lawnmower but it is really for the professional and large garden area. With the Abinger Rose Umbrella I’d like to have a go, perhaps for a vine. But for all the attributes we look for – innovation, function, and value for money, the Potato Pot wins!’
Deborah Meaden added: ‘Any product that encourages people to have a go at growing and having success in their garden must be a winner – everyone in any size of garden, balcony and school playgrounds would love this.’
Dougal Philip, said: ‘We were all delighted with the wide range of garden products amongst the finalists representing the amazing range of garden goods on sale to visitors at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show.’
