The Revival Roadshow is an exciting EPA-funded eco-project which aims to bring upcycling and reuse workshops to communities all over Ireland. The workshops will teach and demonstrate fun and useful reuse and up-cycling techniques. And best of all, the workshops are FREE!! to participants, communities and events organisers.
Travelling in a retro reused ambulance, the Roadshow will visit towns, villages and festivals the length and breadth of Ireland during the summer of 2015. Our workshops will feature experienced artists and craftspeople sharing their skills to help and encourage people of all ages and skillsets to rescue, rethink, upcycle and reuse items instead of throwing them out. These workshops will be open to the public and will encourage participants to think about alternatives to binning objects, as well as teaching them practical and creative skills.
The workshops are facilitated by members of the Community Reuse Network Ireland (CRNI). These organisations specialize in reuse and redesign throughout the island of Ireland. Organisations taking part include Busybees Furniture, the Rediscovery Centre, the Upcycle Movement, Clondalkin Community Recycling Initiative (CCRI), Boomerang Mattress Recycling and many more.
“The aim is to turn people on to the potential and possibilities of reusing items”, explains CRNI co-ordinator Joanne Rourke, who is overseeing the project. “Reuse is more environmentally-friendly than recycling, it prevents perfectly good materials from going to landfill, it reduces the extraction of precious natural resources and it makes us rethink our priorities and actions as consumers.”
