When it comes to gardens, not everyone has the space to grow what they need. Urban areas, apartments and townhouses can all lack green space, but there is an alternative to container gardening – Rooftop Gardens.
Rooftop gardening is becoming a huge trend and something I’ve been interested in learning more about since I spotted a sweet little refuse bin enclosure at Bloom in the Park Horticulture and Food Festival a couple of years ago. I was therefore delighted to find this handy infographic and more detailed information at custommade.com entitled “Raise the Roof: How to Plant a Rooftop Garden”, giving us all the information we need to know how to build our very own rooftop garden.
While the overall idea may seem a tad overwhelming, this infographic breaks down the steps to constructing our own rooftop garden in a manageable way. With construction tips, including waterproofing, weight capacity as well as crop suggestions, it’s a really good resource and I will now be planning to add a green roofed structure to our own garden.
