Baskets have always been a popular method to display your flower designs. They come in a large range of different materials from man made to natural. Grass, wood, metal, plastic to name but a few. They are used for a variety of occasions from birthday gifts, to newborn babies, funerals, weddings, etc… They can easily be purchased from your local florist or why not have a try at making one yourself. I would like to share justa few of my favourite and most popular basket arrangements. Hopefully they will inspire you to make your own.
Baby Basket: A wonderful happy occasion must be celebrated with the perfect baby basket. Like to colour my basket depending on baby. A pretty selection of pinks lavender and white flowers for a girl and a delicate selection of blues, lavenders, lemons and lime greens for a handsome little man. It is wonderful to personalise your arrangement by adding a little teddy, baby balloon or if you have been lucky to be chosen as a godparent what about a silver baby bracelet on the teddys wrist with babys name engraved on it. Pretty gingham bows, little butterflies and buttons make pretty additions to make your basket stand out and give a more personal look.
Autumnal Basket: Love the colours of autumn. Winter bareness not quite here. Beautiful golden, russet colours. This makes any basket a winning selection. I especially love to use fruit and berries in my autumnal baskets. This mixture with the flowers works really well. It is a great colour selection if you are intending it for a couple. in Flowers Now I also find this is a popular one for graves as it looks less traditional and works well for the anniversary of the loss of a loved one.
Fruit and Flower Basket: No one likes to be in sick or in hospital but if you find thats where your loved one is why not bring them the best of both… Both flowers and fruit in the one basket. They can happily munch on the fruit whilst enjoying the smells and sight of their beautiful flowers. To top it all off the also have a pretty basket that you can refill for them on a happier occasion. Try to colour tone your fruit and flowers to create dramatic effects.
Wedding Baskets: What could be sweeter than a little flower girl gently tending her flower basket. Make sure to choose a basket to suit the age of the flower girl. Not too big and heavy. If she is quite young replace flowers with flower petals. Roses work well for this. Try wrapping the handle with nice organza or spare material from bridal dress. Tie with pretty bows on either side. Use light soft delicate flowers and keep in tone with bridal party colours. Pretty butterflies make a lovely addition to this sweet look.
