The Fire Garden opened in St Columb’s Park last night and was to run until Saturday from 6.30 until 9.30 but due to popular demand it will also open on Sunday.
Carál Ní Chuilín said: “I am delighted to be able to secure the magical Fire Garden for another night to ensure as many people as possible get the chance to see it and be part of this truly spectacular event. It has been amazing to have the Lumiere festival in Derry as part of City of Culture 2013.
“Lumiere is a celebration of light. The entire city has become an outdoor gallery. It has captured the imagination of young and old, resident and visitor who have come out in their thousands to sample the unique lights and atmosphere.
“There are 17 installations to view, each one telling its own story. The Fire Garden in St Columb’s Park has been a hugely popular part of the festival. I am so pleased that it will remain open until the festival ends on Sunday. You really won’t want to miss out on seeing it.”
