Is a cadetship in Greenkeeping for you?

Greenmount Golf greenkeeping cadet John Brendan Connolly has successfully completed the cadetship programme at the GUI Greenkeeping and Golf Academy in Antrim. JB, as he’s known to everyone at the CAFRE campus, has finished his level 2 Work Based Diploma ahead of schedule and is now hoping to set off for Ohio USA in September as part of the Golf Union of Ireland internship scheme.

In the meantime, JB from Monaghan, will be honing his skills at Rossmore Golf Course near Monaghan town where he will be working as a greenkeeper on the 18 hole course there.

The Greenkeeping cadetship programme is run at CAFRE Greenmount in partnership with the GUI (Ulster Branch) and provides bursary support for two cadets each year. Cadets study for two days per week at the campus, and learn the craft of Greenkeeping on-the-job at the Greenkeeping and Golf Academy for the remainder of the week. Application forms and details are available from the college or through the web site. Applications will close at the end of May 2012.
