Antrim Castle Gardens is an historical gem. The 400 year old gardens are unique in Northern Ireland. A recent £6m restoration project supported by Heritage Lottery Fund has now preserved this historic site for generations to come.
Visitors to Garden Show Ireland will be able to stroll around the magnificent parkland, visiting the formal gardens of the Large Parterre, and features such as Her Ladyship’s Pleasure Garden and Yew Tree Pond.
Click to hear Maura Martin talk about some of the history of the gardens in this short clip from UTV The Magazine filmed during Garden Show Ireland 2014:
Within the heart of the Gardens is a unique visitor experience, the refurbished Clotworthy House, which houses a Garden Heritage Exhibition explaining the history of the Gardens and the story of the Massereene family. It provides a fantastic opportunity to learn about garden history and how the lives of family members intertwine with the development of Antrim town and the surrounding areas.
Antrim Castle Gardens are the proud winners of the Ulster in Bloom Special Award 2012.
