What an exciting time for a young little flowers. As they take a big step with their fellow classmates, we strive to make this day special and memorable. Our little gems have been working very hard in school with their teachers in the build up to this day. I love to see them arrive into Flowers Now in Balbriggan with their parents. Full of excitement to order flowers for their Communion. Here are a few of the requests we usually get:
- Bay Tree Hire: These beautiful topiary trees are a popular request for both weddings and Holy Communion. We like to decorate them with lovely large flowing organza bows. They look particularly pretty with germini and gypsophilia wired on to them in little water files. Presented in beautiful white galvanised pots with a covering of organza. This is a wonderful idea for beautiful pictures at your front door.
- Front Facing Hall Arrangement: I love this particular arrangement as it creates a welcome atmosphere on first arriving into your house. I like to use pretty white scented flowers. Roses, fressia, lillys and lemon scented delicate waxflower, create that delicate look. Keep this arrangement nice and tall. Use flowers with height to do this. Alliums create a unique style and draw the eye all the way to the top of your arrangement. Make sure if placing in front of a mirror, which I like to do, to make the back of your arrangement equally impressive. If getting a trained florist to make it be sure to mention this.
- Coffee Table Arrangement: A stunning long and low spray of flowers. Beautifully eye catching. Candles can be added. Keep the lighting of the candles until the evening when your little gems are in bed. This can be an enjoyable treat for the parents when your little flower is asleep after their dreamy day.
- Hair Garland: It is always beautiful to use natural flower garlands in a pretty hairband or headband effect. It is very important to use very light delicate flowers for this. Delicate fressia, white spray roses, gypsophilia, white waxflower and pretty variegated ivy leaves make for a beautiful design. The lighter the better. So light your little one won’t even be aware she is wearing it. An alternative to the headband is little groups of flowers individually wired.
- Bracelets: These little bracelets have become very popular in recent years. Diamante are usually the first choice. Second is the pearl beaded variety. Decorated like the hair band lightly with flowers.
- Wands: What little girl doesn’t enjoy a flower wand on this special day. Again lightly decorated around the head with flowers. This is a particularly nice item as it makes a lovely keepsake after the day. Just remove the flowers when they become old. Create a pretty effect by adding small white glitter butterflies. This can be done with all of the flower items above and also the hair flowers.
- Buttonholes: We cannot forget our young men. Yes they can also have flowers. A decadent mini button hole to accompany his attire. Also keeping with light flowers. A small rose with a little waxflower and an ivy leaf can look really well and complement his suit.
