Co. Dublin, Ireland — 13 May. 2011 — – Noshington Café, 186 South Circular Rd, Dublin 8, on Wednesday 18th May at 6.30 p.m.
Finding Ireland is a celebration of the Irish landscape as seen through the camera lens of German photographer, Hauke Steinberg. Capturing the inspirational quality and stark, dramatic beauty of Ireland, this exhibition is a timely reminder of the romance and wild allure of the landscape on our doorstep.
Guests are invited to attend a wine reception to celebrate the launch of the exhibition, Wednesday, May 18th, 6.30 p.m. Please RSVP in advance to the email or phone number below. Hauke’s photographs have been published by the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, Smithsonian Journeys, European Commission, Outdoor Photography, Irish Music Magazine, Four Courts Press, the Geological Survey Ireland, and more. Originally from Schleswig-Holstein in the north of Germany, Hauke Steinberg moved to Ireland in 1996 to study at Trinity College, Dublin. Seduced by Irish culture and a landscape so different from that of his home, he trained as a traditional Irish musician and began travelling the country with his camera.
Commenting on the news of the exhibition Hauke said: “I’m delighted to finally be able to share my work with people in this way. The Irish landscape and its light and colours have cast a spell on me from the day I first visited Ireland more than 20 years ago. It is important to see images like that in large format print to truly appreciate and be captured by them.”
