This year, ESB Tree Week supported by Coillte, takes place from the 1st to the 8th March. In celebration, the Tree Council of Ireland are encouraging individuals, families, schools and local communities to participate in and support events taking place around the country during the week.
There is a full programme of events taking place across the country, ranging from community tree planting and forest walks for school children to book talks and a Tree String Orchestra. The events are aimed at encouraging everyone to get out and enjoy the natural resource we have in our forests. For a list of all events, including Coillte events see www.treecouncil.ie
During Tree Week Coillte are supplying 15,000 native trees – alder, birch, holly, oak and mountain ash which will be planted by community groups, schools and local groups over the week.
The official launch event of ESB Tree Week took place in Castletown House on 1st March in the snow.
