From time to time it is nice to sit down, relax, and to think for a while about who we are and what it is we want out of life. ‘Well Centred’ has been conceived as a space for just such reflections.
Hugh Ryan’s design draws on both the natural landscape and on the footprint which humans have left behind. To emphasise this, it incorporates the use of ancient circular motifs for a central body of water, a grassy bank, and an encircling copse of birch.
In Ireland, as elsewhere, the well has always been a source of physical life, but it also serves as an important centre for both social and mystical activity.

After studying architecture at the Dublin Institute of Technology, Hugh Ryan established Hugh Ryan Landscape Design, specialising in the design and construction of private gardens which draw inspiration from both the natural and the built environment throughout Ireland.
