The Marble Arch Caves Geopark has officially been designated as a UNESCO Global Geopark.  Part of the Marble Arch Caves UNESCO Global Geopark is the Cavan Burren Park, which is managed by Coillte in association with Cavan Co Co.

The Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark is the first cross-border Global Geopark in the world, encompassing Cuilcagh Mountain Park in Co. Fermanagh, as well as Cavan Burren Park in Co. Cavan.

Coillte, along with our partners north and south, are delighted with this designation of the Marble Arch Caves Geopark as a UNESCO Global Geopark. The area is of unique importance to our national heritage and is one of a network of only 120 worldwide.

Marble Arch Caves Global Geopark is named after the Marble Arch Caves show caves in Co. Fermanagh. First established as a European Geopark in 2001, it now includes large parts of Co. Fermanagh in Northern Ireland and Cavan Buren in Co. Cavan in Ireland. For more information see www.marblearchcavesgeopark.com
