The Urban Composter is based on the Bokashi method of composting. This is an anaerobic method of composting that uses Effective Microorganisms to break down food in an oxygen free environment. This process ferments the food scraps within, which is quicker than conventional composting and does not release any greenhouse gases. As the scraps ferment, it produces a liquid. This liquid once drained off, is an organic fertilizer which, when diluted, is brilliant for plants. It is also effective in keeping drains clean and odour free, and is ideal for the promotion of septic systems.
Unlike conventional composters the Urban Composter does not attract vermin or flies and is odour free, allowing it to be used in indoors. The secret behind this is the Urban Compost accelerator. This is a spray which is sprayed each time food scraps are added to the composter. This spray contains Effective Microorganisms, fermented fruit extracts and additional cultures to assist in fat and cellulose consumption. This means that you can throw virtually any food scraps into the composter, meat, vegies, fruit, dairy, coffee and wilted flowers. The spray is a faster, easier and cleaner process than using traditional Bokashi bran.
