Winter Jasmin Just Coming Through – Gareth Austin

Winter jasmin is somewhat different to its summer flowering cousin (Summer flowering Jasmin). Whereas the Summer flowering Jasmin is a fragrant climber which decorates fences, archways and pergolas in summer time the Winter flowering Jasmin is a bright yellow flowering wall or arching shrub for decorating shrub borders or for tying against fences or walls.

The flowers of Winter jasmin are bright yellow, which contrasts against the dark green stems. Winter flowering Jasmin looks good if left to scramble through other ground cover plants such as Ceonothus repens.

Winter flowering Jasmin is a robust fast grower, we cut ours back right after flowering. For positioning Winter Flowering jasmin is great for a anywhere bar the coldest of sites, so try to avoid having them on a North or East facing wall, but light shade to full sun they’re happy.
