Planting Teasels in Clooney Centre – Gareth Austin

This past week we’ve been planting Wild Teasel in pots with the Youth Club in Clooney Centre. Wild Teasel is a super plant for attracting a whoel host of beneficial insects to the garden and many garden birds go mad for the late summer seed heads, the flower can also be dried for flower arranging or if left tall and proud looks class covered in autumn dew or frost.

Rather than planting the teasel in the ground we planted them in these re-used plastic buckets, thus the kids can take them home and grow them on in the buckets in their back garden (or replant later to a spot in their garden).

We sowed these Teasel plants towards the end of September, and these will happily over winter outside and flower next summer.
