Mr Phil Hogan TD, Minister for the Environment, Community and Local Government has announced the recipients of grant funding under the 2013 Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund.
The projects are being co-funded by the Department and Local Authorities; €400,000 is being provided by the Department, with a matching amount of €400,000 being provided by local authorities, bringing total funding under the 2013 scheme to €800,000, which is an increase of €126,000 over 2012 funding. In addition to the funding provided by the Department and the Local Authorities, the successful applicants have also raised additional funds locally, bringing the total shared partnership investment to over €1.4m.
The Local Agenda 21 Environmental Partnership Fund promotes sustainable development by assisting small scale, non-profit environmental projects at a local level.
Projects are recommended for funding by local authorities following an open call for applications. Funding goes to a wide range of local initiatives; including community gardens, waste reduction and biodiversity projects.
