I think a cloud is the best way to describe this plant! It really does look like a cloud of flowers billowing out from the back of the flower bed. I love how it seems to have just exploded in mass of flowers and has flowed between all the other flowers in the bed.
The plant, which I believe is called Symphyotrichum pilosum (Please correct me if I am wrong!) is just fantastic. I love how delicate it is, yet also adds great structure to the flower bed at the same time. They also make a great background that helps the colour of other flowers just jump out at you.
The flowers as particularly amazing in my eyes. I have always had a soft spot for daisies and these are like daises on steroids! They are very small but because they appear in such masses they have amazing impact.
Is anyone keeping track of all the plants I need to get for my own garden? The list is starting to get out of control at this stage!
My Name is David Corscadden and I have just finished my degree in horticulture from UCD. I have a keen interest in wildlife friendly gardens or as I like to call them “Wild Gardens”. I have in the last year taken a u-turn in what I thought I would do after college. I have moved more in to the literature side of horticulture and plan to do a masters in journalism next year.
