Fashionably Late Flowers

I used to have no patience for fall bloomers that did nothing all summer but sit there and grow. It wasn’t enough that they burst into flower at the end of the season, when everything else was going downhill. Then I caught a glimpse of ‘Mardi Gras’ Helenium and I was smitten. I’ve recently become enchanted with a dwarf goldenrod called ‘Little Lemon’ and I find myself looking for more temptations to add to my late season border. After all, who doesn’t enjoy gardening on a brisk fall day?
