A unique team of five of the UK’s most renowned florists have been brought together by Interflora to design and build the organisation’s exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show in May. This year is a particularly important to Interflora as it marks the 90th anniversary for the international flower delivery network and the centenary for the flower show itself.
David Ragg of Lansdowne Florist in Bournemouth, Janet Boast of Going Dutch in Nelson, Natalie Stanyer of Natalie’s Florist in Newcastle-under-Lyme, Morgan Nuth of Rushes Floral Designs in Hammersmith and Old Oak Floral Designers in Ealing, together with Steve Betts, who owns Urban Design Flowers in Solihull, make up the team of five florists, who have never before worked together on one project.

Celebrating floristry expertise over the past nine decades, the design exhibit, entitled Time Frames, will be on display in The Great Pavilion, and takes influences from art, fashion and pop culture from the 1920s to the present day and is intended to deliver a high level of impact.
Kate Mollart, Brand Manager at Interflora said, “Our exhibit will be, in essence, a timeline, with floral displays flowing from one decade to another. A physical time line will run round the exhibit, noting key milestones from Interflora’s last 90 years. We hope visitors to the show will be able to enjoy a bit of nostalgia and see how styles, trends and flowers have changed through the years.”
The Interflora Exhibit: ‘Time Frames’ will celebrate 90 years of fabulous floristry
This is the first time in recent years that Interflora has used a team of florists to create its exhibit at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show, and each has been chosen for their specific floristry skills and creativity. All team members are award winning florists in their own right, but have been brought together to showcase the best that Interflora can offer, in this celebratory year.
All florists have their own section of time to interpret, from the 1920s to the present day. Each have designed and created sections of the exhibit to represent the decades, featuring flowers that were available and popular during the time, as well as those that have become synonymous with the decades.
Interflora’s designers experiment with ways to bring their individual decades to life
One of the florists, David Ragg, is also Creative Director for the project, and has been involved with the conception and design of the exhibit from its infancy. “Hopefully the exhibit as a whole will mean different things to different people and bring back memories of each decade,” he stated.
Discussing the exhibit, and both Interflora’s 90th anniversary, and the RHS Chelsea Flower Show centenary, David said, “I love the challenge of coming up with ideas and bringing everything to fruition. It’s a buzz wherever you are competing but at RHS Chelsea flower Show it’s especially exciting – and never more so than this year. There’s always something different to see and I can’t wait to get started.”
Interflora will also be commemorating 100 years of the RHS Chelsea Flower Show by launching a new celebratory product to mark the occasion – the RHS Chelsea Centenary hand-tied. This striking bouquet will be on sale from Tuesday 7th May, and is priced at £34.99. £5.00 from every sale will be donated to the RHS’s Centenary Appeal, to help inspire today’s young people, and future generations, to love gardening.
RHS Chelsea Flower Show runs from 21st May to the 25th May at the Royal Hospital Gardens, London.
