Amidst news of harsh cutbacks and trying times for the Kerry Parents and Friends Association comes a sweeter tale as the Association prepares to celebrate 40 years of supporting adults with an intellectual disability throughout Kerry. Celebrations in the Listowel service coincide with their Annual Garden Fete which promises to be extra special as celebrity gardener, Dermot ‘O Neill, of RTE fame, is confirmed as star guest and somewhat a light at the end of their polytunnel!
The weekend kicks off with a seminar in the Listowel Arms Hotel by Dermot on Saturday 27th April at 5pm where he will present a slideshow entitled “My Secret Garden – Clondeglass” followed by a Q&A session.
On Sunday, 28th April, the Garden Fete takes place in the Clieveragh based K.P.F.A. Centre from 11-5pm. Dermot will kindly run two demonstrations at the Fete on “How to fill your baskets and containers with colour” followed by a Q&A session. All plants used by Dermot will be on sale at the Garden Fete. Please note that Dermot’s seminar and workshops (11.30 – 12.30pm) & (1.30pm – 2.30pm) are ticket only events. Bookings on (068) 22977 (Mon-Fri 9-4pm) Tickets €10 each.
