New-Look Fairview Park Officially Opens

Lord Mayor Naoise Ó Muirí has launched the new-look Fairview Park on Dublin’s northside. The 20-acre park now features a range of improvements on a 4.7 acre site along the northern boundary of the park. These include a children’s playground that will keep even the most demanding child entertained for hours, Dublin city’s fourth a skateboard park, a woodland walkway and a public performance area.

Fairview Park also has an ‘I-Play’ area, the first of its kind in the city. I-Play is an active play and fitness area designed to attract those more used to playing computer games. Users receive scores that they can log on line and compare with other players in the UK and Ireland.

“These new facilities improve the park for children, young people and adults in Fairview, East Wall, Marino and the north inner city. They also demonstrate Dublin City Council’s commitment to children’s play and to enhancing the city’s existing parks and open spaces,” said Lord Mayor Ó Muirí.

“The improved Fairview Park combines active features such as the I-Play area with passive features such as seasonal bedding. These improvements will allow the park to an even more important role in the life and activity of the Fairview area,” said Dublin City Parks Superintendent Leslie Moore.
