Schools are Full of Good Ideas!

50 Schools from all over Ireland have been shortlisted to put their campaigns into action as part of the One Good Idea project. The One Good Idea competition aims to inspire people to make small lifestyle changes to use energy more efficiently and help tackle climate change.

Students will now have in-school workshops and mentoring from the One Good Idea teams, who will help the students' progress their campaigns. The top 20 teams will participate in the prestigious national final in Dublin Castle in May pitching their ideas to judges in a Dragons' Den style format. Each of the shortlisted teams will receive a cash prize to help their schools continue their commitment to reducing their energy use and combating climate change.

Organised by the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) and proudly supported by AIB, the aim of the project is to increase students' understanding of energy efficiency and climate change by encouraging them to take individual and collective responsibility for tackling these important issues. New for 2014/15 is an extensive campaign showcasing the winning projects in various locations throughout the country.

Commenting on the judging, Tom Halpin, Head of Information at SEAI said: It is great to see the enthusiasm of students and teachers for these important issues. The chosen teams really impressed the judges with their understanding of climate change and energy efficiency and more importantly how they are going to mobilise their communities with their campaigns."
