Bord Bia's Bloom event opens in the Phoenix Park Dublin tomorrow (Thursday, May 29th) for five days. This year's festival will feature 30 breath-taking show gardens, over 120 Irish food and drink producers, 50 nurseries within the Floral Marquee, more than 25 cookery demonstrations and over 160 retailers – all on the grounds of the Visitor Centre in the Phoenix Park, Dublin.

RHS Chelsea Flower Show Plant of the year 2014

An appealing new double-flowered hydrangea bred by young plantsman Ryoji Irie has been named Plant of the Year. A hydrangea making its world debut at Chelsea has taken the top spot and become 2014 RHS Chelsea Plant of the Year.

Annual Barons Court Bluebell Walk 2014 - Gareth Austin

Bloom 2014 Launched. Bloom 2014 Show Gardens

Bord Bia has launched its eagerly anticipated gardening, food and family festival, Bloom. A highlight in the social calendar for green fingered enthusiasts, foodies and those who enjoy a great family day out, Ireland's largest garden and food festival will run for five days over the June bank holiday weekend in Dublin's Phoenix Park, from Thursday, 29th May until Monday, 2nd June 2014.

Kevin Dennis from Raheny, Dublin was celebrating this morning as his Renault ZOE: City Life Garden received the top prize at Bloom 2014. Inspired by the environment, the gold medal garden showcases how to make the most of green living through a city garden and enjoy the benefits that plants bring to people's lives.

Irish Wildlife Trust Launches National “Citizen Scientist” Ladybird Survey

Ladybirds are often considered to be colourful, charismatic insects that assist in managing our gardens by controlling the numbers of plant pests such as aphids. Eighteen species of ladybird have been recorded in Ireland, but there is still a huge gap in our knowledge of what exactly is out there and where these species are distributed.
