Traditional Rose is Ireland’s Favourite Flower - Bord Bia’s Bloom Survey 2015

Bord Bia’s Bloom Survey 2015

The traditional rose remains Ireland’s favourite flower according to a new Bord Bia survey released today during its 9th annual Bloom festival. Over 1,800 people surveyed selected roses as their garden flower of choice, followed by lavender, daffodils and tulips.

ITB & Fingal County Council Win Silver Gilt Medal at Bloom 2015

ITB in collaboration with Fingal County Council have been awarded a Silver Gilt medal at Bloom 2015. The entry is titled "Beech Park Garden" and the medal was awarded in the small gardens Category.

Our Origin is Green’ Garden Awarded Top Prize at Bloom 2015

 
Jane McCorkell, Kilsallaghan, Co.Meath received the highest accolade, overall large garden winner, at Bloom today for her 'Our Origin is Green' garden. The gold medal garden, which represents a trip through Irish mythology, showcases Celtic design through the use of modern Irish material. The design is inspired by a Celtic knot of two dogs found in the Book of Durrow. Later this morning, Bord Bia's Bloom 2015 festival will be officially opened by the President of Ireland Michael D Higgins.

Bloom Show Garden Highlights - David Corscadden

Bloom has just finished its five day run of plants, gardens and food in the Phoenix Park Dublin. With approximately 100,000 visitors even the mixed weather could not turn visitors away from heading along to the park to get some garden inspiration from some of Ireland's top designers.

Bloom 2015 Review - Clara Doran Aged 16

Getting each and every family member to agree on an outing is normally challenging. However having followed Super Garden on RTÉ, an opportunity to visit Bloom thanks to Horticulture Connected and Garden Guide, we agreed was a fantastic opportunity. Consisting of a family of five, including two teenagers and a six year old, we travelled to Bloom with no preconceived ideas.

Concept Show Garden at Bloom 2015 - Breffni McGeough

Breffni McGeough is a landscape designer and contractor from Dublin. He has been designing and building gardens for a wide variety of clients over the last ten years in partnership with fellow landscaper Francis Doyle. He has won medals at bloom in 2011 and 2012. This will be his first solo design at bloom.(View profile)

Concept Show Garden at Bloom 2015 - Brian Burke

Non Forsit is latin and translates literally as ’No Problem’. The youngest child in the family, Eddie was born with Spina Bifida. Spina Bifida is latin and translates literally as ‘Split Spine’. As a result of this condition Eddie uses a mobility aid when he is outside playing with his older brother and sister; Evan and Naima. (View profile)

ITB and Fingal County Council at Bloom 2015

 

Fingal County Council has worked closely with the Department of Horticulture at ITB for the past 4 years providing a training ground for their students in Beech Park Gardens, Clonsilla, Dublin 15. The students have gained invaluable work experience in garden restoration, plant cultivation and plant identification under the guidance of John Harrington, Chargehand Gardener in Fingal County Council who has worked in the horticultural industry for more than forty years.
