South Dublin’s Social Inclusion Unit and Parks Department have worked closely with Menni Services in Tallaght (connected to St. Johns of God) towards the creation of a Sensory Garden in Sean Walsh Park.

The clients of Menni Services (Children & Adults with Disabilities mainly from the Tallaght Area) are using the outdoor garden for horticultural therapy and instruction. A ten week course has been developed by the Council and it started on the 18th February 2009. It is an opportunity for persons with physical and intellectual disabilities, to participate in the creation and upkeep of a visually stimulating garden.

The Project won in the category “Innovation in Developing/Supporting Partnerships” in the St. John of God Innovation Awards 2010.
